Based on the foregoing, the aim of this research is to identify the most effective methods of working with thematic text. To achieve the aim, it is necessary to solve the following tasks:
- to consider reading as a type of speech activity;
- to characterize the main types of reading;
- to study the system of work with thematic text;
- develop a system of exercises for specific thematic texts and give some recommendations for working with the thematic text.
The following research methods were used to solve the tasks:
- analysis of existing English language curricula for high school seniors;
- monitoring the process of teaching reading to students of the senior classes of the basic level of secondary schools;
